The Emergency Standard Operating Procedures (ESOP) were formalised in September 2020 as a way of prioritising and allowing rapid and emergency review of COVID-19 research in New Zealand through an ESOP pathway. These procedures and the pathway were stood down as of 11.59pm 19 October 2022. The ESOP procedures may be implemented again as required in response to future outbreaks.
